Just noticed the difference six months of proper quench oil made

I used to just use motor oil from the auto parts store for hardening, and my blades came out okay I guess. Switched to a canola based quench oil mix six months ago and the edge retention is way better, like night and day. Anyone else stuck on a cheap quench for way too long before upgrading?

Did you see any difference in how often you have to resharpen?

Waste of money if you ask me. Plain old water works fine.
