Got burned on a cheap anvil from a flea market outside Cincinnati

Paid $80 for what I thought was a steal but it turned out to be cast iron dressed up with a blunt file and I cracked it on the second project, so has anyone else fallen for a fake anvil and got stuck with a paperweight?

At least yours can hold a door open, mine just sits in the corner judging me every time I walk past.

Ha, "got burned" is right. I picked up a "vintage" anvil at a yard sale once, paid $60 for it. Looked legit, had some dings, seller talked it up. Took it to my buddy who's a farrier and he tapped it once with a hammer. The thing literally rang like a garden bell. Cast iron all the way. I use it as a doorstop now and tell people it's my "acoustic damping anvil." Solid paperweight, awful anvil.
