Why does nobody warn you about how slow some shows get after season 3?

I spent 14 hours trying to finish The Expanse because everyone swore it was amazing. Turns out I hated every episode after season 3 and just kept waiting for it to get good again. Anyone else stick with a show way too long hoping it would turn around?

Did you ever get to the point where you just didn't care about any of the characters anymore? I had that happen with a show called The Blacklist. I think I made it to season 5 before I finally gave up, even though everyone kept saying it would get better. Every new season just felt like the same thing over and over again, and I was mostly just watching out of habit. Now I try to quit after two seasons if I'm not loving it.

The Blacklist is exactly the show I was thinking of when I read your post. I made it to episode 4 of season 6 before I finally gave up, and I was just mad at myself for wasting that much time. Every episode was the same thing, Liz making the same dumb decision and James Spader acting all mysterious with no payoff. I remember sitting there thinking "I don't even care if Reddington is her father or not anymore, I just want it to be over.
