Started The Wire thinking it was a quick 3 week watch, took me 5 months and 2 restarts to finish season 2
I figured I could knock out The Wire in a few weeks since everyone calls it the best show ever. Season 1 hooked me fast, but season 2 with the docks totally lost me and I quit for 6 weeks. A buddy at work kept saying stick with it, so I restarted the whole thing in January and just wrapped it last week. That zigzag character arc still has me messed up. Did anyone else struggle through season 2 or am I the only one who needed a break?
What made you come back after 6 weeks though? For me it was that cold open in episode 1 where they're grilling the guy about the dead girls and he just says "ain't no nostalgia to this shit here." That line rattled around in my head the whole time I was away. Plus Ziggy's whole thing, man. The duck, the jacket, the way he just keeps stepping on his own feet no matter what. Did the payoff with Sobotka at the end land for you, or did it take till season 3 to click?
