Skipped The Leftovers for 2 years, finally caved after a Reddit thread in Austin
I kept seeing The Leftovers mentioned everywhere but the whole premise sounded too weird for me, like a mystery show that deliberately refuses to give answers. Then a guy at a coffee shop in Austin told me to at least watch the first 3 episodes, said it was about grief pretending to be sci-fi. I gave it a Sunday afternoon here and there, and by episode 4 of season 1 I was hooked mostly because the acting felt so raw, not polished like most dramas. No one warned me that season 2 basically resets the setting without warning, which is jarring but also kind of genius. Has anyone else bounced off a show that ended up being their all time favorite after one specific scene, or am I just stubborn about first impressions?
