Saw a hotel lobby TV in Omaha stuck on a show for 6 hours and now I get why people binge
I was stuck in a hotel lobby in Omaha last month waiting on a work thing, and the TV in the corner was playing some crime show on a loop. I ended up sitting there for 6 hours and watched 4 full episodes back to back without even meaning to. The thing that got me was how each one ended on a small cliffhanger that made me want the next one right then. I never planned to watch it, I just kept telling myself one more and then I'd leave. By episode 4 I knew every character's name and was muttering at the screen like an idiot. Now I'm home trying to find that show and I can't remember the name, which is driving me nuts. Has anyone else ever gotten hooked on a random show playing in a waiting room or a bar? What was it?
Man I used to roll my eyes at that whole "just one more episode" thing, thought it was just marketing hype. Then I sat in a Jiffy Lube waiting area for like 3 hours while they fixed my brakes and some baking show was on, and I watched 5 straight episodes about people making cakes shaped like castles. I was actually mad when they called my name. So yeah, I get it now, those cliffhangers and the way the shows are cut just grab your brain and won't let go.
