Pro tip: I started a show 10 minutes before bed on a work night and paid for it
I was up in Tacoma last Tuesday and hit play on the first episode of a survival show at 10:45pm, figuring I would watch one and go to sleep. Next thing I knew it was 2:30am and I had burned through 4 episodes because every one ended on a cliffhanger that made stopping feel impossible. Does anyone else have a rule for how late is too late to start a new show, or do you just accept that sleep is a lost cause once the first episode hooks you?
Why do we always think we can squeeze in "just one more" of anything at night? It's the same thing with me and my phone, I'll say I'm just checking one thing real quick and then it's midnight and I've read a thousand random articles. Same with snacks too, one chip turns into half the bag because each bite makes the next one feel like no big deal. There's something about being tired that makes bad choices feel totally fine in the moment. Then morning comes and you're just sitting there wondering what happened to your brain.
