Just finished Dark and I'm confused about the timeline

I binged all 3 seasons of Dark last week with my roommate and we spent 2 hours arguing if the ending actually closes the loop or not. The family tree in season 2 alone made my head spin. Anyone else have a clear explanation for how the last scene works?

Did your friend ever notice that the whole thing is basically a bootstrap paradox? I had a buddy who swore up and down he figured it out after his third rewatch, stayed up all night making a chart on his fridge. Turned out he mixed up Adam and Eva because of the scar placement, classic mistake. We still laugh about it when the show comes up. What was the part that tripped you up the most?

Oh great, another time travel show where people end up mapping things on fridges. That's commitment right there, I just use post-its and they fall off after two days. The Adam and Eva mix up is the kind of mistake that gets you roasted for years at parties, I've been there with a different show. Honestly what tripped me up was trying to figure out why anyone would mess with timelines in the first place, seems like a good way to accidentally erase your favorite pizza joint from existence.

Oh man, the scar placement thing... I had a coworker who spent three hours explaining his time travel theory to me at lunch, and I just nodded along because I zoned out thinking about what pizza toppings to order. He got so into it that he drew diagrams on napkins, but then someone pointed out the whole paradox thing and he just froze mid-sentence. I still don't know if he was right or wrong but he sure was passionate about it.
