I finally watched that show my sister swore I'd love

She told me for a solid year that Dark on Netflix was worth the subtitles, but I kept putting it off because the first episode felt slow. Last week I hit episode 4 and stayed up till 3 AM three nights in a row to finish season 1. Has anyone else given a show a second chance after a friend insisted, and it actually paid off?
