I finally gave that true crime series a shot after 3 years of avoiding it

My sister kept pushing this one show on me every time we talked, and I always brushed it off because I figured it was just another overhyped murder story with bad reenactments. Last Thursday I had a long shift at the store and just wanted something to zone out to, so I clicked the first episode on a whim. Turns out the whole thing is built around old audio recordings and interviews, not the cheesy dramatic stuff I expected. I ended up watching 5 episodes before I realized it was past 2am, and the next day I actually called my sister to admit she was right. The case itself is from a small town in Ohio back in the 80s, and the way they piece together the timeline just hooks you in a way I can't explain. Has anyone else been dead wrong about a show for years and then binged it all in one weekend? What finally got you to press play?

And that's exactly how it goes, once you find one that breaks the mold it's hard to stop. I had the same thing with a podcast about a cold case, thought it'd be boring but the old tape recordings just pull you in. My trick now is to read the first review that mentions the format, not just the rating, that saves me from the cheesy stuff.
