Debate: Is it better to binge a show as it airs or wait until it's done? I'm torn.

I had a rough week trying to catch up on Severance - everyone kept posting spoilers online before I could watch. But then my buddy waited 2 years for the whole season to drop and says he enjoyed it way more without the breaks. The waiting killed me but maybe he's right about getting the full picture at once? What do you all think works better for a truly binge worthy experience?

Binge after it's done. Waiting between episodes just annoys me.

Got a friend who does this thing where he watches the first episode of a show, then immediately reads the entire plot summary on Wikipedia before finishing the season. Drives me nuts. Says he needs to "prepare emotionally" for what's coming. But then he'll still binge the rest anyway because he already knows the ending. I tried waiting for a whole season to drop once with that big fantasy show everyone was talking about. Ended up getting spoiled by a meme three days before the finale released. Never again. Now I just watch week to week and avoid the internet entirely on show days.
