Used to think drive thru headsets were indestructible until one broke in the rain
Last Tuesday during a downpour at the Elmhurst Wendy's our headset started cutting out and I realized those things are way more fragile than I thought, has anyone else had a headset die from just a little water?

Wait, it probably wasn't just the rain. Those headsets are pretty water resistant, but the real killer is the condensation that builds up inside from going between cold and warm air. Check the foam mic cover if it's still got one, those things trap moisture like crazy.

Oh totally, condensation kills them way faster than rain ever could? I had a pair die on me after a winter run because I went straight from my freezing car into a warm gym and left them in my bag. The foam mic cover was like a soaked sponge when I finally checked it, and the whole headset started crackling a few days later. Now I always dry them off with a towel before storing them, and I take the foam covers off to air out separately. Lesson learned the expensive way, for sure.

My first pair of those died exactly like that after a cold morning run into a warm coffee shop. I pulled the foam cover off three days later when the audio got all fuzzy, and it was still damp inside like it had been sweating. Now I just pop those covers off and let them sit on the dashboard for a few hours after any big temperature change.
