Used to hand count my drawer for 20 minutes, now I do it in 4
When I started at the grocery store on 5th Street three years back, I'd count my register drawer coin by coin and it ate up almost 20 minutes after every shift. Now I stack bills by denomination first, weigh the coins on the scale, and I'm out the door in about 4 minutes. My old lead Rosa taught me the trick after she watched me fumble through a busy Friday close and just shook her head at me. The counting errors dropped too, maybe one short drawer in the last 8 months instead of one a week. Any of you got a closing routine that shaved real time off your shift?
