TIL a customer's complaint about cold coffee can be solved with a Sharpie.

A guy kept sending back his black coffee, insisting it was 'room temperature' after about 30 seconds. Instead of arguing, I started drawing a small line on the cup with a Sharpie to mark the fill level before handing it over. When he came back, I'd show him the line was still at the same spot, proving he hadn't drunk any and it was just cooling in his hand. What's the dumbest 'proof' you've had to provide to settle something trivial?

Marking the fill line is a solid move for that kind of thing. In my experience, a visual cue shuts down arguments faster than words ever could. Sometimes you just have to show the work.

Ever run into a situation where the visual cue itself started the argument instead?
