The ice machine at our store has been broken for 3 weeks now
Our ice machine went down on a Tuesday right before the lunch rush and we've been using bags from the grocery store since. I told my manager we should fix it asap since we're a fast food place and drinks are like 40% of our sales. He said corporate is dragging their feet on repair approval because the machine is 8 years old and they might just replace it. But in the meantime I'm the one explaining to customers why our soda is warm and we have no ice. Is this a normal wait time for a repair or am I right to be annoyed?

Used to think corporate just needed time, but three weeks for ice at a fast food place is ridiculous. You're totally right to be annoyed, that's on them for not having a backup plan.

Ugh seriously?! Three weeks for an ice machine at a fast food place is insane. But honestly it’s just how everything works now, not just at your job. Like I swear basic stuff that should take a day takes a month everywhere. My landlord took four weeks to fix our AC in July and the repair guy said the part was “on backorder” for two weeks. And don’t get me started on trying to get a doctor’s appointment for a sinus infection, they wanted me to wait ten days. It’s like nobody has a backup plan for anything and everyone just passes the blame to the next person up the chain. So yeah, you’re not being dramatic, this is just the new normal for getting anything fixed.
