The guy who tried to return a half-eaten sandwich at our deli counter
This happened about 2 months ago at the sandwich shop I work at in St. Louis. This guy walks up to the counter with a turkey sub that's literally missing like three bites and he's holding it in a napkin. He says 'I got this an hour ago and it just doesn't taste right, I want my money back.' My manager came over and asked him what exactly was wrong, and he goes 'the bread is too fluffy, I wanted it denser.' We all just stared at him for a solid 5 seconds. Has anyone else dealt with a return on food that's already been eaten? I still can't wrap my head around it.

Got to love when someone tries to return food they already ate like it's a shirt that didn't fit. At least with clothes you can argue the size was wrong, but what's the return policy on "too fluffy bread"? Next time someone's gonna bring back coffee they already drank because it wasn't hot enough. Your manager probably wanted to launch that sub at him.

You know, I've been thinking about this from the employee's side, and the real problem isn't even the return itself. It's that this guy probably thought he was being clever by eating 90% of the sub and then complaining. Like he figured he'd get a free meal out of it and maybe even a coupon for next time. That kind of stuff just makes it harder for people with legitimate complaints down the road, because managers get jaded and start second-guessing everyone.
