Ever think that waste is just part of the cost for having fresh stuff ready all the time? It sucks to toss food, but customers expect that full case every single day. The alternative is running out and losing sales, which is way worse for business.

My old boss used to donate day-old bread to a shelter, cut our waste in half.

Did your boss @the_kai have a pretty solid system for it? A buddy of mine used to work at a bakery and they had a deal with a local shelter where they'd drop off stuff after closing instead of trashing it. Honestly, seemed like a win-win for everyone since the bakery cut waste and the shelter got free food.
