I've been stacking the coffee cups wrong for two years and a new hire just showed me

I work at a drive-thru coffee stand in Tacoma, and for my whole shift yesterday I kept having the medium cups fall over when I tried to grab one from the stack. This new guy, who's only been here a week, watched me struggle and said, 'You know they nest better if you flip every other one, right?' I tried it and now the whole station is solid. Has anyone else had a basic trick like this slip by them for way too long?

Oh my god, the "whole station is solid" now. That's the kind of simple fix that would make me question my whole life for a minute. Two years of fighting with cups and the answer was just flipping every other one? I'd have to go sit in the walk-in cooler and think about all my life choices.
