I used to argue with customers about expired coupons for 10 minutes straight but after a lady cried over a 50 cent discount last Tuesday I just scan whatever now

What changed me was realizing I was wasting 5 extra seconds of my life every single shift fighting over something I literally don't get paid enough to care about, has anyone else just given up on enforcing the fine print?

Maybe it's just me but that crying lady probably needed that 50 cents more than the store did.

Agree with that completely. That 50 cents probably meant she could grab a loaf of bread or something small, and breaking down over it in public shows she was already at her limit. I figure the store can eat that half a dollar way easier than she can, and the company isn't gonna miss it. Plus the time I waste arguing could be spent just helping the next person and moving on with my day. It's not like corporate is gonna give me a raise for being a coupon cop either lol. So yeah, just scan it and let people have their tiny wins, which makes everyone's day a little smoother.
