I finally got why that one regular always tips in cash

For like a year I figured this customer just liked using bills, never thought twice about it. Then last Friday he paid me $14 on a $42 tab and said "cash means it goes straight to you, not the house." That's when it clicked that servers at my place in Portland only see card tips after the two week payroll cycle. I used to think cash tips were a hassle for making change, now I see it as the only way to know your money landed before the weekend rush. Has anyone else had a regular who does this and later found out the real reason?
