I finally found a way to stop the 'just looking' crowd from blocking my register line for 20 minutes.
Started putting a 'line forms here' sign and a small display of impulse buys like gum and phone chargers about six feet back from the counter. Has anyone else had to get creative with crowd control?

Honestly, the psychology of that is pretty smart. Makes people commit to being in line before they're in your way.
