I finally figured out why the coffee grinder sounded so weird for a week

A customer asked for 'espresso' and I'd been using the 'French press' setting this whole time, which a barista friend pointed out after hearing it from across the shop. Has anyone else had a machine setting mix-up that you didn't notice until someone called it out?

Honestly, if it was working for a week, maybe the setting wasn't that far off. I've used the wrong grind before and the machine just sounds a bit angrier.

Ended up going way finer than I thought it needed and pulled like 20 grams of bitter sludge before I got it right. The key for me was timing the shot to the second instead of eyeballing it. That one week of okay shots was just luck, dialing in from scratch saved me a ton of frustration.
