Vent: went years holding my shears wrong and a 19 year old kid showed me up
I was pinching my shears with my thumb up high on the finger rest for who knows how long, probably since barber school back in 2011. A kid who's been cutting for 8 months caught it last Tuesday when he watched me do a fade and asked why my hand looked tense. He showed me dropping the thumb lower and letting the pinky do the work, and my hand stopped cramping by the end of that day. Twenty two years in this chair and a new guy half my age fixed my grip in about two minutes. Any of you have a bad habit you only found out about because someone younger pointed it out?
