Vent: A barber in Tulsa scoffed at my clipper-over-comb, said it was lazy, then a different guy showed me why it saves my wrist
Back in March I was cutting a guy with thick wavy hair and my wrist was killing me by the third fade, so I switched to clipper-over-comb on the sides. The old timer next to me at the shop said that technique was for guys who never learned to scissor properly, and I let it get in my head for a couple weeks. Then a barber visiting from Dallas watched me work and said his hands were toast by 40 because he fought thick hair with scissors only, and he wished someone had pushed him toward the comb trick sooner. Now I'm wondering if the pride around scissor-only fades is actually costing us our hands. Any of you switched to more clipper-over-comb as you got older, or do you still think it looks different on the finished cut?
Tbh clipper over comb fades look the same on 99% of heads, that old timer was just stuck in his ways. Your hands gotta last you 30 years, not 15. Scissor pride doesn't pay the bills when your wrist is shot.
