Took me 2 years to try a straight razor shave on myself after a bad barber cut
I was at the shop in Phoenix last Tuesday and a friend showed me how he does his own neck with a straight razor in 3 minutes flat. After I nicked myself twice but got the cleanest line I've ever had, I'm a convert. Anyone else change their mind after a rough barber visit?

My brother-in-law Joe tried to give himself a straight razor shave once after his barber left a chunk out of his sideburn. Nicked his ear so bad he had to hold a paper towel against it for ten minutes. But he still says the shave was better than anything that barber ever gave him. I think there's something about taking control after someone messes up your face in a professional chair. Makes you want to do everything yourself even if it takes a few tries.

Tried the same thing after a barber messed up my neckline back in 2022. Bought a cheap safety razor first to practice angles and pressure before moving to a straight. Took about two weeks before I stopped looking like I got attacked by a cat. Worth it though @wren217. Now I just do touch ups myself with a trimmer before weddings or interviews. Saves money and frustration.
