Heard a client talk about his old barber while I was working

I was doing a simple trim for a guy yesterday, and he started telling me about the barber he went to for 15 years before moving here. He said the guy remembered his kids' names and asked about them every single visit. It wasn't about the haircut, it was about the chat. It hit me that I've been so focused on getting the fade perfect that I sometimes forget to just talk. I've been in my own shop for about 8 months now, and I think I need to slow down and connect more. What's one thing you do to make a client feel like more than just a haircut?

How do you even start those chats? I just ask people about their weekend plans, simple stuff. It makes a huge difference when they feel seen.

Yeah, just asking about their weekend works every time.
