Chat with a retired barber about my clippers changed my whole setup
I was at a show in Chicago last weekend and got to talking with this old timer who's been cutting hair since the 70s. He told me I was overpaying for these fancy cordless clippers and that a $40 Wahl with a cord will outlast any battery model he's seen. Made me rethink my whole tool bag since I've blown $300 on two cordless sets in 3 years. Anyone else got a favorite clipper that's just basic but never dies?

That old timer could charge for his advice with what he just saved you. Battery clippers are like fancy coffee makers, they work great until they dont and then you are stuck with a paperweight. My dad still uses a corded Wahl from the 80s and the only thing he had to replace was the blade once. It just sits there plugged in with that little dangling cord like a faithful workhorse. Meanwhile my fancy cordless sits in a drawer because the battery wont hold a charge for a full head anymore.

Read an article saying lithiums lose 20% charge per year sitting unused.
