Appreciation post: That Tuesday in March when the whole shop just clicked
Had a walk-in for a complex skin fade who said 'just do your thing' and tipped $40 on a $25 cut. Has a day like that ever made you remember why you got into this?

Ever think those days are less about the money and more about someone seeing you as an artist, not just a service? That trust to 'do your thing' changes the whole feel of the chair... makes it a real collaboration. It's a quiet kind of respect that just fills your tank back up. Those are the shifts that stick with you for years, honestly.

Yeah, and you can sort of build that trust. I've found being really clear about what you do from the start helps. When someone books, I'll mention I love creative cuts or color, so they know my style. It sets the tone that I'm not just taking orders. Then when they sit down and say "do what you think is best," it feels earned, not random. Those clients become your regulars because they came for you, not just a haircut.

Does that $40 tip cover the therapy needed when a client says "just a trim" and means take off six inches? Because I'm still waiting on that balance. Props to anyone who gets that kind of trust without also getting five photos from Pinterest that don't match their hair type.
