A regular at my shop in Phoenix told me he prefers a 30 minute cut
He said the extra time lets him relax and actually enjoy the experience, which made me rethink always trying to be the fastest. I used to think speed was the only thing that mattered for keeping the books full. Has anyone else had a client change their mind about what makes a good appointment?

Wait, are you telling me I've been wrong this whole time chasing 15 minute cuts? @the_evan I just had a similar thing happen at my shop last month. A regular who always booked 20 minute appointments asked if I could slow down and give him a full 40 minute session instead. He said he wanted to actually talk and have me take my time on the details instead of rushing through. I thought he was crazy at first but now I got three other guys asking for the same thing. It completely changed how I look at my schedule and I actually enjoy the work more now. The extra time lets me catch things I would miss and the clients leave way happier.

My shop in Tucson started offering a 45 minute "unwind" cut last year. It books out two weeks solid now. Some people just want the chair time, not the speed.

What's the actual service like during those 45 minutes? Is it just a slower haircut, or do they add things like a longer scalp massage or hot towels? I'm curious what makes it feel different from a regular appointment that people would wait two weeks for it.
