Wasted $45 on a banned book collector set that was just abridged
Picked up a 'complete and unabridged' box set of challenged classics off an online reseller for $45. Turns out the seller cut out whole chapters from Slaughterhouse-Five to dodge the controversial parts. Lost the money since they wouldn't refund it. Anyone else run into fakes like this when hunting for banned books?

That "complete and unabridged" claim is just another example of how cutting corners has become standard practice everywhere these days.

Finding a few trusted publishers has made all the difference for me. Once I stuck with the ones known for quality control, I stopped worrying about missing chapters or sloppy edits. Isn't that worth a little extra effort upfront?
