Vent: The week my local library pulled all 12 challenged books off the shelf

Last Tuesday I walked into the public library in Springfield and saw the display for "banned books week" was totally gone. They caved to 3 angry parents and removed every title that had a complaint, including 1984 and The Bluest Eye. Has anyone else had their library quietly remove books without a vote or public hearing?

Man that's awful, I'm really sorry your library went that route without at least letting the community have a say first. It just feels like they folded way too fast over nothing.

They folded that fast? Over a couple of noise complaints? I can't wrap my head around that. Our library got complaints about kids running and yelling every single day for years. Never once did they talk about closing the whole thing down. They just put up a sign asking parents to watch their kids and moved on. Feels like yours had an agenda. I'd be furious if my tax money went to a space that quits over nothing.
