The switch from digital to paper changed how I read banned books entirely

Used to speed through challenged titles on my e-reader, finishing like 15 a month but remembering almost nothing. Started buying physical copies from a used bookstore in Portland about 6 months ago, and the difference is wild. Holding the actual pages makes me slow down, underline stuff, and argue with the margins like I'm in a book club with myself. Has anyone else noticed that the tactile feel of a banned book makes you think harder about why it got targeted?

Question whether you're actually reading the book or just getting romantic about the object. A used paperback from Portland with coffee stains doesn't magically make the words inside more meaningful. You probably just needed a better reading habit and the paper thing gave you an excuse to build one.
