The county fair book giveaway that made me rethink banned book lists
I used to just skim challenge lists online and figure those books were probably too edgy for most folks anyway. Then last June at the Douglas County fair I saw a free table with copies of 'The Absolutely True Diary' and a lady explaining why it got pulled from her kid's school. Hearing her talk about the real content, not the rumors, made me actually read it that week and now I check the source of every complaint before judging. Anyone else have a moment where a live conversation beat the internet narrative?

Real talk, hearing someone explain the actual pages instead of the panic is a whole different thing. It reminds you these are real kids and real families making tough calls, not just faceless internet arguments. Glad you got that chance to listen, it changes how you see the whole debate.
