That week our library board voted to keep the book but hide it

Last month our small town library in Ohio had a board meeting about a challenged YA novel. The challengers wanted it gone, but the board voted to keep it on the shelf. Then they quietly moved it to the staff-only back room so nobody would find it. I only found out because I asked a librarian for it and she looked uncomfortable. Has anyone else had a library do the "keep but hide" thing instead of an outright ban?

Ngl that's just banning with extra steps and a coat of paint. "Technically available" but you need a secret handshake and a librarian who's willing to risk an awkward convo to find it. Sounds like my high school's "special" section for books with swear words in them. They kept them but you'd have to ask the meanest librarian and she'd sigh real loud like you were asking for porn.
