Spent 3 days tracking down a 1974 copy of 'The Giving Tree' that had been pulled from our school library.

I finally found a beat-up copy at a garage sale in Akron for 50 cents. It's wild how that book went from being on every shelf to getting challenged for "promoting an unhealthy relationship." Anyone else have a banned childhood book they had to hunt for?

Honestly, I had to track down a copy of "Where the Wild Things Are" back in 2015 because my sister's school banned it for being "too scary." Ngl, I felt like Max in his own boat when I finally found a beat-up copy at a thrift store in Toledo, complete with a ketchup stain on the page where the wild rumpus starts. Tbh, I spent more time cleaning that stain off than I did actually reading the book the first time. It's funny how the things people worry about kids reading end up being the exact things that make those books so memorable.
