I disagree that Fahrenheit 451 is just about censorship, the real target is something else entirely
Everyone says it's about book burning, but I think Bradbury was actually warning us about how we dumb down content ourselves through mindless entertainment. The fact that it got challenged 3 times in my local Texas school district for being "too dark" just proves his point about people avoiding uncomfortable ideas. Has anyone else read it and come away with that take, or am I way off?

My local library had a banned books display last year and someone actually complained that it was "too political" so they put it behind the desk. Three books challenged in Texas for being "too dark" is honestly impressive, that's like saying a horror movie is too scary. Bradbury would probably laugh his ass off if he saw us arguing about whether his book about dumbing down society is too dumb for people to handle. Guy wrote the book on people avoiding uncomfortable ideas and now schools are avoiding his book for that exact reason.
