Vent: I just found out how many people still write paper checks

I saw a report from the Federal Reserve that said over 3 billion checks were processed in 2022. I thought everyone was using apps now. Has your bank mentioned anything about this?

That 3 billion number is from the Fed's annual payments study, right? What really gets me is the average check amount they reported... it was something like $2,100. Makes you wonder what kinds of payments are still on paper.

emma_mitchell right? three billion is insane. i actually had to get a new checkbook last month because my bank was like "oh you're out" and i was like wait i still have checks?? apparently my landlord's management company still takes them for rent deposits even though they accept venmo too. it's wild to think about how many people are still doing it the old way.
