Update: I was convinced my bank's new 'fraud alert' texts were just a scam for months, but one saved me from a $1,200 charge at a gas station in Phoenix.

I ignored every single one until the alert last Tuesday included the exact merchant name and a one-time code to confirm it wasn't me, which finally made me check my app and see the pending transaction. Has anyone else had a bank's fraud system actually work that well on a first try?

My pharmacy's text alerts about ready prescriptions used to feel like spam too.

Wow, I was the exact same way! I'd delete those texts immediately, convinced they were phishing. But last month mine flagged a weird online subscription I didn't recognize, and it showed the company name and asked if it was me. Clicked "no" and it was gone. Totally changed my view on them.
