Overheard a bank teller say mobile wallets are a security risk and I had to bite my tongue
She was explaining to a customer that tapping your phone at checkout is basically handing over your card info on a silver platter, but from what I've read, tokenization actually makes it safer than swiping plastic, so is that just outdated training or is there something I'm missing?

EXACTLY, I had a similar thing happen at my bank and I almost choked on my coffee. The teller told this older couple that Apple Pay was basically giving thieves a direct line to their accounts. I wanted to jump in so bad because I use it every day at the gas station and grocery store. The tokenization thing is REAL - when I tap my phone, the merchant never sees my actual card number, just a temporary code. Meanwhile that same teller watched me swipe my debit card right after and it printed my full card number on the receipt she handed back. Makes NO sense how people still think the old way is safer when I've had my card skimmed twice at gas pumps but never once with my phone.
