My sister's comment about her paycheck made me see direct deposit differently

I was helping my sister set up her first real job's bank stuff last week, and she asked why her money would just 'appear' in her account. She said, 'It feels weird not to hold the paper, like my work is just a number now.' That hit different because I've had direct deposit for years and never thought about the feeling of it. It made me realize how much the physical part of money has just vanished for a lot of people. Has anyone else had a moment that made them notice how abstract payments have become?

Remember when I thought my first direct deposit was a bank error.

Oh man, I get that. My first direct deposit was so quiet I forgot I even had a job. @noahpark, I would have preferred a bank error, at least that's exciting.
