My aunt who worked at a credit union in Austin for decades always told me to read every fee disclosure line by line. Last month I switched to a new checking account and almost missed a $12 monthly maintenance fee hidden in the fine print. She was right, I called them and got it waived plus they refunded the first month. Has anyone else found that old school advice beats the apps and alerts you get now?
