I thought setting up a new business account would take a week, but my credit union did it in an hour.
For my first small business, I opened an account at a big national bank because I thought they'd be faster. It took five days and two trips to a branch. Last month, I started a side project and tried my local credit union in Boise. I walked in with my papers at 10 AM, and by 11 AM I had a full account, a debit card, and online banking set up. The personal banker just handled everything right there. I'm not saying all big banks are slow, but my experience was totally different this time. Has anyone else found a smaller bank or credit union to be quicker for basic business services?

But is five days really that big of a deal?

Seriously, @logan_robinson85? Five days is a huge deal! That's almost a whole extra week of waiting for something important. In my world, five days can mean missing a deadline or a total plan falling apart. It just feels like you're not seeing how much can change in that time.

You ever see a buddy lose a five-day hold on a rental and end up sleeping in his car?

Wait, has nobody actually done this before? Tbh @logan_robinson85, five days is a lifetime when you're sleeping in a car. I had a buddy crash on my couch for three nights after his rental got repo'd and he was still trying to figure out where he put the keys. Ngl, that whole situation was a hot mess. Plus, sleeping in a car in a Walmart parking lot with the cops circling? Not exactly a vacation. So yeah, I'd say losing five days is a pretty big deal.
