I thought my bank's new 'fraud alert' text was a total scam until it stopped a $1,200 charge in Chicago last month.
The message looked so fake with a weird link, but I called the number on my card and the rep confirmed they were trying to reach me about a suspicious gas station purchase 800 miles away, so has anyone else gotten a legit alert that seemed totally phishy at first?

Well, @harper395, but maybe folks are just too quick to blame the bank when they're the ones not paying attention to their own spending.

Yeah, that "looked so fake" part is so real. My friend almost ignored one about a weird Best Buy charge because it came from a weird short code. She only called because the amount was huge, and it turned out her card info got swiped at a gas pump.

Scary how the real ones look fake now. My bank sent a fraud alert from a regular ten digit number that looked like a spam call. Almost deleted it but the store was one I never go to. Makes you realize the scammers have ruined our trust in every text, even the real warnings.
