I heard a guy at the coffee shop say cash is basically dead now
He was going on about how tap-to-pay and apps make physical money pointless, but I still keep about $200 in my wallet for small shops and tips. Maybe it's just me, but I think writing off cash completely ignores a lot of folks who rely on it. How do you handle the split between digital and cash payments in your own life?

My grandma still pays for everything with cash from her social security checks. I keep about a hundred bucks on me too, mostly for the farmers market and the little taco truck that only takes bills. It feels like declaring cash dead is something only people in a bubble would say, you know? A lot of older folks, day laborers, and people without bank accounts don't have a choice. My own system is about half and half, digital for big stores and cash for small local spots. It just seems respectful to the way a lot of people actually live.

Wait, isn't cash still the most used way to pay in a lot of places? I mean, @rowan593, your grandma's way is still super common where I live too. Maybe it's just me but the reports of it dying feel pretty out of touch.
