Heard a guy at the coffee shop say he never checks his bank statements...

I was grabbing coffee yesterday and overheard a guy telling his friend he just doesn't look at his bank account online. He said, "If the card works, I'm good." That made me stop and think... I used to be like that too, until a $12.99 subscription I forgot about kept charging me for almost a year. It was only when I finally sat down and looked at six months of statements that I saw it. Now I set a calendar alert for the 5th of every month to check everything. Has anyone else found a simple way to make checking statements a habit?

Set a notification on your banking app for any charge over a dollar. Honestly, that's what finally got me to look at mine regularly because it pings my phone instantly. Tbh, seeing every little transaction pop up makes it impossible to ignore.

Setting a calendar alert is a solid start. Maybe link it to another monthly task you already do, like paying a specific bill. That way it becomes part of an existing routine.

Framing it around a bill makes sense, but honestly, is checking a bank account every month really that deep for most people? You'd have to be in a pretty bad spot for a single monthly check to save you from anything serious. Feels like overcomplicating something that should just be a quick glance when you open the app.
