Finally got my merchant account processor to fix a fee error after six weeks of back and forth

Turns out they were charging me a 2.5% premium on every single transaction for 18 months because their system flagged my shop as high risk for electrical work, and it took me calling the bank and reading off 47 transaction dates one by one to get a $680 refund.

yo wait they hit you with a 2.5% premium just for electrical work? thats insane. same thing happened to me but with plumbing. my processor slapped on a 3% surcharge for like 2 years cause they said it was a high risk industry. i only caught it when i was reconciling my books and saw these weird little charges adding up. ended up getting like $900 back after i threatened to switch to a different processor. the worst part is they didnt even tell me they were doing it, just snuck it into the fees. feels like you gotta check your statements with a fine tooth comb every month or theyll just take advantage. glad you finally got your money back though man, that must have been a headache.
