Customer told me my credit card terminal was too slow... changed how I check for updates
Last month a regular at the restaurant pointed out our chip reader was taking almost 15 seconds per transaction. I'd just been ignoring it. Turns out the terminal hadn't gotten a firmware update in over a year. Spent 20 minutes on the phone with the processor and now it takes under 5 seconds. Anyone else just let these things sit without checking for updates?

Bet you never thought about how slow terminals actually cost you tips - people get annoyed and leave less when they're standing around waiting.

Yeah, you're totally right about that... I've definitely noticed people getting fidgety when the terminal lags, especially during the lunch rush when they're already in a hurry. It's like every second of delay just builds up their irritation and you can see it on their faces. And the worst part is it's not even our fault when the machine is slow, but we're the ones who take the hit in tips. Makes you wonder if the owners have ever actually watched how much time those old clunkers waste.
