Went from paying $15/month for bank fees to $0 with a credit union last year
My old bank charged me $12 in maintenance fees every month until I finally got fed up and moved my checking account to a local credit union in Phoenix. Has anyone else here made the switch and noticed a big difference in what you keep in your pocket each month?

Cut the cord two years ago, never looked back. Credit unions just treat you better.

The real game changer no one talks about is how much easier it is to get a loan approved when you have a history with a credit union. I'm talking about those random life moments where you need a few grand fast for a car repair or a medical bill. Big banks look at your credit score and that's it. But if you've been with a credit union for a while and they know you're solid, they'll actually work with you even if your score took a hit. That relationship part is way more valuable than slightly better rates or fewer fees.
