Walked past a new 'financial wellness center' downtown and it just felt off

I was in the city center yesterday and saw a new storefront with big glass windows and a sign calling itself a 'financial wellness center'. It was basically a broker's office, but it looked like a trendy coffee shop inside, with plants and couches. A guy in a polo shirt was giving a free talk about 'taking control of your future' to a small group. It struck me how much it was trying to feel friendly and accessible, not like the big marble bank lobby across the street. That bank feels solid but cold, while this place feels warm but maybe a bit slick. It made me think hard about where I actually want to put my money. Is the friendly, modern broker approach better, or is the traditional, impersonal bank actually more trustworthy? Has anyone else been to one of these new-style broker shops and felt the same weird mix of attraction and suspicion?

Heard my cousin got talked into a "future planning session" at a place like that. Said the guy was super nice but the fees he found later were NOT. Felt like they sold the vibe first, the details second.

What gets me is how they use the FREE meeting as a trap. It's not about the advice, it's about building personal trust so you feel bad saying no. My buddy's guy spent an hour talking about his kids' soccer games before even mentioning funds. By then, you're not buying a plan, you're saying no to a new friend. That social pressure is the real product they're selling.
