Vent: my credit union took 3 days to clear a $250 check while my broker moved the same money in 20 minutes
Last Wednesday I deposited a $250 check from a side job at my credit union branch in Boise. Teller told me 1 to 2 business days. Fine, I get it. Then Friday it was still showing as pending, so I called and the guy said checks over $200 get a longer hold. Same week I sold $250 of an ETF through my broker app and the cash was ready to use that same afternoon. I always thought the bank side was supposed to be the safer, faster option for small stuff. Guess not. Anyone else notice regular banks hold your check forever while brokers let you move money same day, or is this just my credit union being slow?
